I have to tell you up front - I have never made anything like this before. I've never even seen a recipie. I have eaten one or two though and I figured that was good enough to give it a try. So here we go...
First thing's first - gotta undress the fruit. I picked up about

three wonderful mangos from Marche - Place d'Aligre along with all the other tidbits in this recipie. I peeled the mangos and diced them into chucky pieces. Heated up my suacepan (my only saucepan) with just a little olive oil - maybe a tablespoon - and about 1/4 cup of H20 until it was simmering. Threw in the mango and let it boil down on a medium-low heat for about an hour. Checked every little while to see if more water needed to be added. I didn't want a soupy mix - but I also didn't want to burn the mango.

pan. I buttered the glass dish before laying down the dough and then added little lumps of butter around the surface. I don't know why. I like butter. As the mango finished cooking down - I made my tart guts. Again - no recipie to follow so we just invent. I cracked three or four eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, cup and a quarter of milk, 1/4 cup of cream, and then enough flour to get the consistency that I thought was necessary. Then I added the mixture to the mangos and let it cook for just a few more minutes.

You can see what happened after i poured the mixture into the

dish. The butter just started slowly melting and rising to the top... THAT certainly can't be a bad thing. Threw the stuff in the micro-oven and thank goodness the door just closed. Set it to 215C and cooked until firm.

As that cooked I moved onto layer two. We'll move quickly.

First - cleaned my only saucepan (sigh) and then took the strawberries, washed and sliced them and added them into it. Dropped about 1/3 cup of honey over the berries and maybe 1/8 cup of water. Let it cook on medium-high while I stirred. As the berries started to break down I added about 1/8 cup of cream. When the mix looked good enough to guzzle I decided to take it one step (and for my Texan friends) further and added a mound of chocolate to the mix.

I forgot to mention that I didn't forget and took my first layer out of the oven a while ago. Threw it into the frige to let it firm up a bit. I then took my strawberry-honey-chocolate mixture / heaven and added it on top of the mango layer. Tossed this in the oven on about 185C and cooked it until it felt right. Seemed like about fifteen minutes but maybe twenty. I was busy watching House so I don't remember.

Pulled the amalgamation out of the oven and added some sliced almonds, cranked the oven up to BROIL and browned the almonds. Took it out, let it cool and then added some sliced strawberries on top to make it look really fantastic as to hide the fact that it might taste like crap.
